About the role

This position supports the County of Sarasota, Florida, to provide care for individuals with special needs displaced during large-scale disasters. The role requires responding to a disaster within 24 hours of notice and establishing care within 72 hours. This is a post-disaster mission, requiring onsite presence until the operation concludes. The RN Medical Manager oversees medical operations at the shelter and serves as the deputy team leader for the project, with administrative oversight of all nursing staff.

Responsibilities

• Manage the overall performance of medical operations at the shelter.
• Oversee staff schedules and rotations for all personnel.
• Serve as the project representative when required.
• Provide updates to the county and relevant agencies.
• Ensure quality care and accountability of patients.
• Lead shift handovers and after-action reviews.
• Serve as the lead for all medical training and oversight.
• Provide medical care within scope when required.
• Complete required organizational compliance education, including client-specified and regulatory requirements for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.

Requirements

• Graduate from an associate's or baccalaureate nursing program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
• Minimum five years of professional experience as a licensed registered nurse in a hospital, medical office, or residential setting.
• Current, full, and unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in the state of Florida.
• Basic Life Support certification.
• Current and valid driver's license.

• Experience with special needs populations (preferred).

Schedule

• Upon notification, shifts will be 12 hours per day until the operation is complete.

Physical Demands

• Physically capable of performing duties in austere environments, including exposure to heat and weather.
• Frequent use of office technology such as computers and telephones.
• Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 30 lbs.

Travel

• Travel to Sarasota, Florida, upon notification.
