As a non-profit community mental health center serving southeastern Jackson County, Missouri, we’re passionate about helping individuals impacted by mental illness or substance use find hope, support, and healing.

The Behavioral Health Urgent Care Clinic (BHUCC) is the first program of its kind in the Kansas City area, providing immediate, same-day access to psychiatric medication for mental health and substance use needs. Through a multi-disciplinary approach, the BHUCC team provides care to clients every day of the week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet the community's needs.

Responsibilities

  • Complete initial assessment/history on all clients entering treatment.
  • Strategically use assessment information to make an appropriate clinical evaluation of client's current conditions in a timely manner, including (but not limited to) making appropriate referrals, consulting with physicians, and/or educating the client as appropriate.
  • Educate clients and families on symptoms, medications, and side effects.
  • Provide a welcoming, trauma-informed approach toward all clients, visitors, and guests.
  • Collect and maintain information about clients and document interactions within ReDiscover’s designated electronic medical record.
  • Communicate and collaborate with an internal multi-disciplinary team to address various aspects of wellness and ensure positive communication regarding the coordination of client care.

Requirements

  • Availability to work a part-time 36-hour work week schedule (12-hour shifts, 3 days a week, weekend day shift only twice a month). Clinic operates 7 days a week from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • Active Missouri license as a Registered Nurse (or the ability to practice as an RN in the state of Missouri).
  • At least two (2) years of clinical experience in direct service provision in a mental health setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of community resources as well as health and social service systems in the Kansas City metro area and skill in establishing working relationships with community partners preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a recovery focus.
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills in typing/keyboarding, Microsoft Word and Excel programs, as well as use of email.
