About the role

The Medical Support Specialist (MSS) plays a vital role in delivering safe, efficient, and patient-centered clinical support. Reinforcing patient confidence, supporting clinical accuracy, and ensuring a seamless experience throughout the visit.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Aid patients to exam rooms and obtain accurate vitals.
  • Perform treatments and administer medications as directed by the Provider.
  • Assist with procedures including lab work and specialty treatment.
  • Support patient check-in, check-out, and scheduling support to maintain clinic flow.
  • Assist with front office or administrative tasks when clinic demand requires.
  • Build rapport and provide reassurance during patient interactions.
  • Communicate clearly about procedures and next steps.
  • Support a comfortable, respectful, and professional environment.
  • Provide education on treatment processes, next steps, and general expectations (within scope).
  • Reinforce patient understanding of their care journey and support follow-up questions appropriately.
  • Engage with patients regarding their experience and support continuity of care.
  • Ensure accurate, timely charting and documentation.
  • Follow all protocols for medication administration and lab processing.
  • Maintain compliance with clinical standards and safety practices.
  • Support efficient patient flow and minimize wait times.
  • Collaborate with Providers, PRCs, and PEMs for seamless care delivery.
  • Absorb and support other roles as needed to maintain patient flow and clinic efficiency.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, team-first environment where patient needs come first.

Requirements

  • Relevant certification (Medical Assistant or nursing per state requirements).
  • Multi-tasking & Efficiency: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Customer Service Excellence: Providing compassionate and professional patient interactions.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to think quickly and resolve patient concerns.
  • Strong clinical and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
