About the role

The Registered Nurse at Hackensack Meridian Health functions as a caregiver for a specific patient population, providing and ensuring safe and excellent delivery of individualized patient care. This role involves the delivery of nursing practices according to the most up-to-date evidence-based research, nursing policies, and standards of care.

Responsibilities

  • Achieves desired outcomes by delivering nursing practices according to the most up-to-date evidence-based research, nursing policies, and standards of care.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to provide effective direct care to a variety of complex patients.
  • Directs and oversees the care provided by other caregivers through delegation, validation, evaluation, and coordination.
  • Coordinates patient care/unit activities among nursing peers, physicians, and support services.
  • Performs comprehensive data collection and age-specific assessment to identify clinical and diagnostic status changes.
  • Develops and coordinates a plan of care that addresses patient and family education needs.
  • Communicates, coordinates, and implements the plan of care, ensuring ongoing communication with patients and families.
  • Learns and applies new advancements in medication administration and electronic documentation.
  • Evaluates progress towards achieving outcomes and identifies ethical issues in the practice setting.
  • Adheres to American Nurses Association Code for Nurses with Interpretive Statements and maintains necessary certifications and continuing education.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of an associate in Nursing or diploma of Nursing degree.
  • BSN in progress and/or willing to acquire within three (3) years of hire.
  • A current and valid Registered Nurse license to work at the assigned HMH location by date of hire.
  • BLS/CPR certification by American Heart Association is required within 60 days of hire.
  • Six (6) or more months of relevant nursing experience OR participation in Hackensack Meridian Health's Nurse Residency Program.
  • The ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs, a strong sense of accountability for improving the lives of our patients and their caregivers, an exceptional focus on teamwork, dedication to ongoing education, and the ability and passion to deliver the highest quality of care based on a strong sense of patient focus are all required.
  • National Certification in area of specialty preferred when eligible.
