Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, including examination and treatment, under an approved protocol.
• Evaluate outcomes and adjust nursing care processes as needed to ensure optimal patient care.
• Educate patients and family regarding condition, treatment, discharge/transfer planning, and follow-up examinations; seek feedback to evaluate understanding and document.
• Utilize the nursing process to implement goal-directed nursing care for a defined group of patients.
• Review patient medical records, report abnormal findings to physicians and interventional radiologists, and assess lab data to ensure patient preparedness for planned procedures; ensure signed consent is obtained.
• Monitor the medical condition of assigned patients at all times and report any changes or unexpected occurrences to the Nursing Supervisor, Physician, or designee.
• Assist radiologists with specialized procedures requiring the use of specialized X-ray equipment, as needed.
• Anticipate and participate in emergency procedures as necessary.
• Perform a variety of nursing skills in compliance with physician orders and established hospital policies and procedures.
• Communicate with physicians and other departments to consult on patient status and ensure continuity of care.
• Respond to cases of cardiopulmonary arrest, fire, disaster, or other emergencies in accordance with established procedures.
• Administer Moderate Sedation in a controlled setting.
• Assume responsibility for professional development by setting goals and striving to achieve them through available resources, such as attending seminars, in-services, and reading journals.
• Act as a liaison between the X-ray department and nurses.
• Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
• Minimum of three years of job-related experience or equivalent.
• Rhode Island State Licensure.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
• Moderate Sedation certification.
• At least three years of Critical Care or Special Procedures experience.
