About the role

The role is essential in delivering quality patient care through teamwork, adhering to nursing processes, ensuring patient safety, and supporting pain management. The position requires a combination of clinical skills and interpersonal abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers quality care to patients through the nursing process.
  • Ensures patient safety by executing appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Supports pain management and pharmacological/non-pharmacological measures.
  • Affords appropriate support for patient/family comfort measures.
  • Formulates and documents a discharge plan maximizing patient's ability to continue meaningful life activities.
  • Provides information and interpretation of patient's condition and offers coping mechanisms.
  • Assesses patient's need for information and utilizes appropriate communication methods.
  • Anticipates and identifies potential age-specific healthcare needs.
  • Facilitates appropriate responses from other health care team members.
  • Plans and provides unique and individualized comfort measures.
  • Participates in unit and hospital committees.
  • Engages in performance improvement activities.
  • Prepares for Joint Commission readiness.
  • Works towards achieving successful Patient Satisfaction scores.
  • Performs educational sessions and attends workshops.
  • Collaborates with case managers and health care providers to resolve patient education issues.
  • Manages patient care regimens with discretion.
  • Attends to patient discharge planning, including medication instructions.
  • Adapts to changes and maintains a self-motivated approach to staffing adjustments.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Previous nursing experience preferred.
  • AHA BLS - Healthcare Provider.
  • NICC (or obtain within 1 year of hire).
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification (or obtain by end of orientation).
  • ACLSC (or obtain within 6 months of hire).
  • NRPS (or obtain within 6 months of hire).
  • Knowledge of nursing skills, hospital practices, and procedures.
  • Frequent physical demands include pushing/pulling, twisting, bending, reaching, squatting/kneeling/crawling, wrist position deviation, pinching/fine motor activities, keyboard use, repetitive motion, taste/smell, sitting, climbing, standing, walking, carrying objects, talking/hearing, lifting up to 25 lbs., and occasional lifting above waist level.
  • Sensory requirements include very accurate vision, near vision, far vision, color discrimination, accurate depth perception, and accurate hearing.
  • Anticipated occupational exposure risks include bloodborne pathogens, chemicals, airborne communicable diseases, dust/particulate matter.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse - NJ license.
  • Valid NJ driver’s license.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Current ACLS certification.
  • Current NRP certification.
  • Current PALS certification.
