Essential Job Functions
- Follow the policy and procedures outlined by the Infusion Nurse and drug company for administering medication.
- Administer PPD tests and read and record them.
- Assess patients before infusions to determine high-risk infusions.
- Assess patients during infusions for tolerability and reactions.
- Contact physicians regarding orders and reactions.
- Monitor vital signs per protocol.
- Titrade infusion according to drug company guidelines.
- Teach patients signs and symptoms to watch for and what to do in Emergency situations.
- Document the infusion, recording of all vital signs, current medications, how the patient tolerated the procedure, and problems experienced with the last procedure.
- Sign and date all consent forms.
- Complete chart checks one week before the patient’s appointment to verify medication orders, office visits, and required lab work are all up to date within the year.
- Complete insurance authorization task checks one week before the patient to verify billing has obtained a current prior authorization.
- Track medication count via Excel spreadsheet in the “Vial Log” folder on the W: drive.
- Complete infusion referral tasks sent to infusion from the clinical team.
- Complete infusion medication procedure billing in EHR.
- Provide additional comforts such as a blanket, pillow, food, or drink.
- Stock both medical supplies, medications, and food and drink.
- Make a list of food and drink needed and send an email to the courier.
General Qualifications
- Ability to communicate effectively with physicians and staff both verbally and in writing.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Great people skills.
- Able to work independently and be a team player.
- Able to handle patient issues in a tactful, professional way.
Education and Experience
- Florida Licensed Registered Nurse.
- CPR/BLS and preferably ACLS.
- Excellent IV and assessment skills.
Schedule
Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:00pm
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for an extended period of time.
- Ability to communicate in English.
- Ability to see within normal parameters.
- Ability to hear within normal range.
- Ability to use hands, arms, and legs within the specifications of the job.
- Ability to assist unable patients with movement or transport to infusion chairs.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
