Job Summary and Qualifications

Infusion nurses administer various therapies such as intravenous antibiotics, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and blood products. They also promote a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach towards patients, families, and all members of the care delivery team.

About this unit

We take care of complex oncology and infusion patients in a supportive environment that fosters teamwork. Patient population is often recurring, which in turn we build relationships with them and their families. Clinic open Monday – Friday 7:30a - 5pm; Part-time position (2 10-hr shifts per week: Wednesday & Thursday).

Responsibilities

  • Performs patient care under the direction of the Clinical Nurse Manager.
  • Provides therapeutic and administrative services necessary for the care of the patient, and in support of the mission of Overland Park Regional Medical Center.
  • Provides care for adult patients between 18 to 64 years and geriatric patients 65 years and older.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with either an ADN or BSN degree.
  • Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation.
  • BLS is required upon hire.
  • Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Card from Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) preferred within first 6 months of hire; required within first year of hire.
  • Certified Oncology Nurse (OCN) from Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) preferred.
  • Prior experience in a similarly sized facility with similar services provided is preferred.
  • Previous emergency, pre-hospital or critical care preferred.
  • Previous oncology experience is strongly preferred.
