About the Role
The RN Infection Preventionist evaluates resident care quality related to Healthcare Acquired Infections (HAI) and Community Acquired Infections (CAI), ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and standards.
Responsibilities
- Collects, analyzes, and presents HAI data with recommendations for improvement.
- Monitors staff adherence to infection control standards using barriers and prevention measures.
- Develops and delivers educational programs for staff, residents, and families.
- Serves as a resource across departments for infection prevention.
- Manages Public Health advisories and COVID-19 prevention efforts per CDC guidelines.
- Develops and oversees the Antibiotic Stewardship Program.
- Maintains current knowledge of infection control trends and practices.
- Performs duties within the scope of nursing licensure and makes independent decisions when needed.
Requirements
- Nursing diploma (associate's or bachelor's degree) and active RN license.
- CPR certification and specialized infection prevention training.
- Preferred experience in geriatrics and relevant certifications (e.g., Certified TB Nurse).
- Knowledge of infection prevention practices, laws, and regulations.
- Ability to interpret policies, implement programs, and perform competently across all areas.
- On-site presence and responsibility for monitoring health advisories.
