About the Role

The RN Infection Preventionist assesses resident care quality related to Healthcare and Community Acquired Infections, ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Collects, analyzes, and presents infection data with recommendations for improvement.
  • Monitors staff adherence to infection control protocols using barriers and prevention measures.
  • Provides education to staff, residents, and families on infection prevention.
  • Serves as a resource across departments for infection control practices.
  • Manages Public Health advisories and leads COVID-19 prevention efforts per CDC guidelines.
  • Develops and oversees the Antibiotic Stewardship Program.
  • Maintains current knowledge of infection control trends and laws.
  • Performs within the scope of licensure, making independent decisions when needed.

Requirements

  • Nursing diploma (associate or bachelor’s degree) and active RN license.
  • CPR certification, with ongoing current certification.
  • Specialized infection prevention training; experience in geriatrics preferred.
  • State-specific certifications (e.g., Certified TB Nurse) as required.
  • Knowledge of infection prevention practices, laws, and regulations.
  • Ability to implement programs, policies, and procedures effectively.
  • Works onsite at the facility.
  • Maintains current knowledge of infection trends.
  • Upholds professionalism and confidentiality in all aspects of work.
