Nurses Make a Difference! The Delaware Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) is offering recruitment and referral incentives for clinical nursing positions:

  • $10,000 recruitment incentive for Registered Nurses, Advanced Practice Nurses, Nurse Consultants, Nursing Supervisors, and Compliance Nurses
  • $7,500 recruitment incentive for Licensed Practical Nurses
  • $5,000 recruitment incentive for Certified Nurse’s Assistants
  • $1,000 referral bonus for current DHSS employees who refer new hires in the listed classifications

Recruitment incentives are paid in quarterly installments over the first year of hire, beginning after the first quarter of employment. New employees accepting this recruitment bonus must commit to two consecutive years of employment with DHSS. You must be a new employee to the State of Delaware to be eligible for this incentive. Referral bonuses are also paid in quarterly installments over the first year of the referred applicant’s employment. This program may be terminated by the State at any time.

About the Role

This position serves as a Registered Nurse III with the Kent County Community Mobile Health Unit. Duties include providing professional nursing care services to clients, preparing reports and statistics, and assisting in community health education. The role involves managing and maintaining vaccine inventory and supplies, participating in disaster exercises and shelters, and supporting public health initiatives such as flu vaccinations, COVID-19 testing and vaccinations, and other community health projects. Occasional evening and Saturday work may be required with advanced notice.

Requirements

  • At least two years of experience as a Registered Nurse OR a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nursing and at least one year of experience as a Registered Nurse OR a Master’s degree or higher in Nursing
  • Possession of a Delaware Registered Nurse license OR a multi-state compact license
  • Valid driver’s license (not suspended, revoked, cancelled, or disqualified from driving)
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States (the State of Delaware participates in E-Verify)

Responsibilities

  • Provide or evaluate direct nursing care
  • Develop, implement, and/or review nursing care plans
  • Provide health care instruction and guidance to individuals, families, community groups, and nursing home facilities
  • Maintain effective working relationships with other members of the treatment team
  • Prepare and submit records, reports, evaluations, and forms
  • Participate in and make recommendations regarding quality assurance activities

Additional Information

  • This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement
