Registered Nurse II-Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic SJCH
About the role
The Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Outpatient Infusion Clinic at Entity Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) seeks a compassionate, highly skilled nursing professional to join our team. This role offers specialized care to children and adolescents with complex hematologic and oncologic conditions, working closely with various healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive, family-centered care to patients undergoing chemotherapy, biotherapy, blood products, infusion therapies, and supportive treatments.
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, social workers, child life specialists, care coordinators, research teams, and ancillary support staff to ensure seamless care delivery.
- Administer chemotherapy and biotherapy treatments as per APHON guidelines and current certifications.
- Assist in patient education and counseling sessions, ensuring patients and families understand their treatment plans and support options.
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and case conferences to discuss patient progress and develop care plans.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures, including infection control measures and safety protocols.
- Perform physical assessments, document patient care, and communicate findings to healthcare team members.
- Manage inventory and supplies, maintaining a sterile environment in accordance with hospital standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred.
- Minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse required.
- Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
- Current APHON Chemotherapy/Biotherapy provider certification issued by APHON required if administering chemotherapy within one year of hire or transfer to the Outpatient Oncology/Infusion department.
Qualifications
- Enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date.
- Physical requirements include ability to stand, sit, walk, climb stairs, work indoors/outdoors, work from elevated areas, work in confined/cramped spaces, perform pinching operations, perform gross motor activities, perform fine manipulation, reach overhead, perform repetitive motions, use lower extremities for balance and coordination, reach in all directions, lift and carry 50 lbs., lift/lower objects 50 lbs., exert up to 50 lbs. of force, maintain 20/40 vision, correct, in one eye or with both eyes, maintain hearing acuity, with correction, maintain tactile sensory functions, and be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required.
- Mental requirements include ability to deal effectively with stressful situations, work rotating shifts, work overtime as required, and work in a latex-safe environment.
Skills
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Proficiency in computer systems and electronic health record (EHR) software.
- Knowledge of pediatric care and oncology-specific treatments.
- Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.

Pay
The pay rate for this position is $XX.XX per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
This position is generally Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, with no nights, holidays, or weekends.
