Registered Nurse II, Medical Oncology

Responsibilities

• Provides specialized care to cancer patients by administering treatments, monitoring progress, managing side effects, and offering emotional support.
• Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
• Conducts thorough assessments of patients' physical and emotional conditions.
• Maintains accurate and up-to-date patient records.
• Documents patient assessments, treatments, and progress.
• Communicates effectively with other healthcare professionals.
• Participates in educational activities related to job function.
• Participates in research and clinical trials.
• Contributes to the implementation of nursing protocols and guidelines.
• Stays current with the latest advancements in oncology care.

Requirements

• 2 Year/Associate Degree in Nursing, required.
• 4 Year/Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, preferred.
• All RN’s hired and do not currently hold a BSN will be expected to demonstrate enrollment in a bachelor’s prepared nursing program within 4 years of hire. BSN must be completed within 10 years.
• NYS Licensure as a Registered Nurse, required.
• BLS Certification within 30 days from date of hire, required.
• ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Administration, preferred.
• OCN Certification, preferred.
• Valid NYS Driver's License, preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year RN experience, required.
• Minimum 1 year experience in Oncology, preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 lbs. for force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
• Frequent grasping, hearing, repetitive motion, seeing/monitor/computer use, standing, talking, visual acuity (color, depth, perception).
• Occasional balancing, climbing, crouching, typing/clerical/dexterity, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, stooping.
• Constant fit testing.

Hazards

• Occasional bodily fluids/bloodborne exposure, chemical.
