Registered Nurse II, Medical Surgical/Telemetry Float

Position Overview

Accountable for the assessment, coordination, delivery and evaluation of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care in an acute patient setting. Delivers holistic and individualized care to all patients in an assigned area. Develops, implements, and coordinates a plan of care that incorporates psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and life-style factors. Fosters and maintains collaborative relationships between patients, their family/support group, physicians, and other healthcare providers through timely and effective communications. Adheres to hospital policies, industry standards, best practices, and applicable laws and regulations to promote an optimal patient experience.

This position requires the ability to work at the following locations:

• Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley
• Alta Bates Medical Center in Oakland and Berkeley
• Delta Medical Center in Antioch
• Sutter Solano Medical Center in Vallejo

Responsibilities

• Assess, coordinate, deliver, and evaluate nursing care in an acute patient setting.
• Provide direct patient care and patient/family education.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans incorporating psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors.
• Foster collaborative relationships with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare providers.
• Maintain timely and effective communication to support patient care.
• Adhere to hospital policies, industry standards, best practices, and regulations.
• Ensure patient privacy and confidentiality of protected health information (PHI).
• Prioritize assignments and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Work independently and as part of a team to accomplish objectives.
• Identify and solve routine or complex problems using existing procedures and critical thinking.
• Build collaborative relationships with peers and healthcare providers to achieve departmental and organizational goals.

Requirements

Education:

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing Required
• BSN Preferred

Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of current experience in Med/Tele Required

Licensures and Certifications:

• Registered Nurse - State Licensure (RN) Required
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) Required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Required

Skills and Knowledge

• Demonstrated general knowledge and competence in nursing theories, concepts, and practices; medical terminology; anatomy; and physiology.
• Working knowledge of the healthcare industry, safety precautions, patient care best practices, privacy regulations, and changes in local/state/federal laws.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical individuals.
• Time management and organizational skills to prioritize patient care and assignments within standardized policies and procedures.
• Basic knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Outlook).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
• Ability to communicate and engage effectively in stressful situations with team members, patients, and families.
• Use critical thinking to identify and solve routine or complex problems.
• Prioritize tasks and work within standardized policies and procedures to meet objectives and deadlines.

Pay

Pay Range is $86.14 to $116.55 per hour. The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs. Base pay is only one component of Sutter Health’s comprehensive total rewards program.
