Job Summary/Purpose

The RN CVP II is able to competently perform all aspects of care (sedating, monitoring, scrubbing, and circulating) during Diagnostic / Interventional Cardiac Procedures and EP procedures (Excluding: Complex Ablation cases). The MUSC Cardiac Cath Lab consists of five state-of-the-art labs plus one hybrid OR supported by a Prep and Recovery unit. We provide advanced cardiac catheterization care for heart attack, stroke and coronary artery disease, including chronic total coronary occlusion. We continue to expand our Heart Failure program and are the largest transplant facility in South Carolina. MUSC Health also offers more treatment options for heart valve disease than any other center in the state, including minimally invasive TAVR, TAVI, TEER, TMVR & MitraClip approaches.

About the Role

Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse II provides individualized, goal-directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results.

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures under the direction of a physician.
  • Assists in the preparation of the patient for the procedure, including pre-procedure assessment and education.
  • Monitors the patient's condition during the procedure, reporting any changes to the physician.
  • Collaborates with the surgical team to ensure a smooth and efficient procedure.
  • Assists in the recovery phase, providing post-procedure care and education to the patient and family.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred.
  • RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date.
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
