About the role

The Registered Nurse at Hackensack Meridian Health functions as a caregiver for a specific patient population, providing and ensuring safe and excellent delivery of individualized patient care. This role involves the delivery of nursing practices according to the most up-to-date evidence-based research, nursing policies, and standards of care.

Responsibilities

• Achieves desired outcomes by expanding knowledge and skills.
• Directs and oversees the care provided by other caregivers through delegation, validation, evaluation, and coordination.
• Coordinates patient care/unit activities among nursing peers, physicians, and support services.
• Performs comprehensive data collection and age-specific assessment.
• Develops and coordinates a plan of care that reflects the patient's needs, advocates appropriately, and demonstrates evidence-based nursing practice.
• Communicates, coordinates, and implements the plan of care, providing ongoing communication with patient/family, nursing colleagues, and other members of the health care team.
• Administers medications using the latest advancements in bar-scanning and documentation technologies.
• Multidisciplinary discharges patients to ensure safe transitioning and continuum of care.
• Evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes and initiates interventions related to patient's change in condition.
• Identifies ethical issues in the practice setting and brings them to the attention of other team members.
• Lifts a minimum of 35 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 10 lbs., and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day.

Qualifications

• Current and valid New Jersey Registered Nurse license.
• ACLS certification by American Heart Association (strongly preferred).
• Active American Heart Association (AHA) BLS/CPR certification within 60 days of entering position.
• Six (6) or more months of nursing experience OR active participant in Hackensack Meridian Health’s Nurse Residency Program.
• One year experience in an ICU, step-down unit, or Emergency room preferred.
• Vent mgmt, Telemetry, ICU competency, Titratable drugs and hemodynamic monitoring preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• National Certification in area of specialty preferred when eligible.
