About the role

The Registered Nurse at Hackensack Meridian Health functions as a caregiver for a specific patient population, providing and ensuring safe and excellent delivery of individualized patient care. This role involves the delivery of nursing practices according to the most up-to-date evidence-based research, nursing policies, and standards of care.

Responsibilities

  • Achieves desired outcomes by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.
  • Coordinates patient care/unit activities among nursing peers, physicians, and support services.
  • Administers medications using the latest advancements in bar-scanning and documentation technologies.
  • Performs age and disease-specific assessments and develops a plan of care.
  • Communicates and educates patients and families about their care plans.
  • Coordinates multi-disciplinary discharges to ensure safe transitions and continuity of care.
  • Evaluates patient progress towards achieving outcomes and initiates interventions as necessary.
  • Advises on ethical issues in the practice setting and reports them to appropriate personnel.
  • Lifts a minimum of 35 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 10 lbs., and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day.

Qualifications

  • Current and valid New Jersey Registered Nurse license.
  • ACLS certification by American Heart Association (strongly preferred).
  • Active American Heart Association (AHA) BLS/CPR certification within 60 days of entering position.
  • Six (6) or more months of nursing experience OR active participant in Hackensack Meridian Health’s Nurse Residency Program.
  • One year experience in an ICU, step-down unit, or Emergency Room preferred.
  • Ventilation management, telemetry, ICU competency, titratable drugs, and hemodynamic monitoring preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • National Certification in area of specialty preferred when eligible.
