Registered Nurse I (Nights)

Job Summary

This is an entry level position for Registered Nurses (RN) who are new graduates or have minimal RN experience. The position works Nights at Southern Virginia Mental Health Institute, a 72-bed Joint Commission accredited State Mental Health Facility, located in Danville, VA.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient’s physical and mental condition and collaborate with patient and other team members to identify needs in order to design individualized person centered plans of care with the aim of increasing psychosocial and recovery skills for individuals with mental illnesses and those with dual disorders.
• Implement the use of Seclusion/Restraints including knowledge of physical/emotional risk factors of the patients served at the facility.
• Work 12-hour shifts in a non-rotating Pitman schedule.
• May be required to work weekends on a rotating basis.

Requirements

• Graduate of a Registered Nurse program.
• Current and in good standing Registered Nurse license to practice nursing in the Commonwealth of Virginia, or license eligible; multi-state compact endorsement is accepted.
• Valid driver’s license is required and must remain active throughout employment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge and skills related to psychosocial rehabilitation/recovery models.
• Successfully complete BLS, Therapeutic Options (TO) and other required training upon employment at facility.
• Demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills, team focused care and professional approach.
• Presents good clinical knowledge and resource to staff.
• Ability to delegate, supervise, evaluate nursing processes to help solve complex problems.

Skills

• Knowledge of the theory and practice of nursing and psychiatric nursing.

Pay

$79,268 - $109,390 Pay Band 4
