Responsibilities
- Moves through nursing assessment to develop comprehensive nursing care plans addressing all significant needs and problems.
- Prepares nursing elements of the interdisciplinary care plan before the initial team conference.
- Reviews and updates nursing care plans and collaborates with team members as necessary.
- Implements patient care according to the nursing care plan and interdisciplinary care plan.
- Sets priorities based on patient acuity and individual needs.
- Ensures safety and therapeutic care, seeking resources as needed.
- Performs and documents procedures accurately and in compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Evaluates patient responses and progress towards goals, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team.
- Completes daily nursing progress notes and flow sheets for assigned patients.
- Evaluates patient education needs and documents the patient’s response to teaching.
- Explains procedures, tests, and disease processes to patients and families as needed.
- Models appropriate behavior for health care students and other team members.
- Assists in the orientation of new staff by sharing knowledge and experience.
- Reports and documents patient conditions accurately and confidentially.
- Maintains open and effective communication with the care team, patients, and significant others.
- Gives and accepts constructive feedback appropriately.
- Identifies and reports unsafe patient care practices, suggesting alternatives as needed.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, preferred.
- Experience: Six months to a year of experience as a licensed RN or holder of an active GN permit.
- Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications: BLS required, RN License in state of employment or compact, Graduate Nurse Permit, ACLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
Position Requirements
- Completion of all annual competency verification requirements.
- Completion of ACLS certification within 30 days of hire.
