Full Time, 40 hours per week, 100% FTE, rotating Saturdays – Union, Non-Exempt

About the role

Registered Nurses (RN) provide direct nursing care, triage (in person and over the phone), support providers, and offer clinical oversight and support to Medical Assistants. NAHC is an accredited institution adhering to standards set by the Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) and the Commission of Dental Accreditation (CODA).

Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

  • Perform clinical nursing duties with high integrity and quality.
  • Identify and respond to the health care needs of all members on-site at NAHC, regardless of appointment status.
  • Assist and facilitate members in obtaining medical services through scheduling, triaging (phone and in-person), and assessing walk-in members.
  • Conduct nurse visits including wound care, pregnancy tests, injections, blood pressure checks, urine toxicology screens, pill counts, medication reconciliation, TB tests, and more.
  • Obtain and record vital signs, recognize variances or red flags, and take appropriate follow-up action.
  • Triage and assess members, collecting health information pertinent to clinical care.
  • Perform basic in-house lab tests; obtain and process specimens for outside laboratories.
  • Perform EKG, audiometric, Snellen, and other member screening tests.
  • Provide medications and conduct medication reconciliation according to departmental protocol.
  • Administer IM, ID, SC, PO, oxygen, and nebulized medications as ordered by clinicians.
  • Assist in medical procedures and support providers with complex member visits.
  • Counsel members on health education, preventive health, and chronic conditions.
  • Support providers by processing medication refills, delivering test results, and calling patients.
  • Manage mammograms, biopsies, and breast ultrasounds under provider guidance.
  • Oversee the abnormal pap smear process, including tracking, scheduling, and recalling members.
  • Perform orientation and training for new staff and volunteers.
  • Act as a Medical Assistant or back-up Flow Coordinator when needed.

Quality Assurance

  • Assist in evaluating nursing policies and procedures and other operational policies related to the Medical department.
  • Develop, train, and implement policies, procedures, protocols, and standing orders as requested.

General Duties

  • Participate in Saturday clinics as scheduled.
  • Demonstrate understanding and apply safety policies to ensure safe member practices.
  • Follow protective protocols to ensure personal and team safety, including ergonomic safety standards.
  • Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives aligned with organizational mission and goals.
  • Maintain confidentiality of protected health information (PHI) and comply with HIPAA policies.
  • Work under pressure, meet competing deadlines, and demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and clients.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
