Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Administers medications safely and educates patients on their prescribed medications.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions and ensures patient safety.
• Communicates with staff and patients to ensure continuity of care.
• Floats among various clinical services and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Current, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment.
• One year of inpatient hospital experience preferred.
• Ability to adapt to a high-stress environment and assess potential patient escalations.
• Effective communication skills, including oral and written, with a sensitivity to serving a culturally diverse and special needs population.
• Self-confidence and ability to lead and direct others.
• Successfully completes CPR certification and an Oceans-approved behavioral health de-escalation program.

Qualifications / Skills Requirements

• Knowledge of psychiatric disorders and appropriate nursing interventions.
• Professionalism, accountability, and responsibility for decision-making, quality nursing care, and knowledge base of psychiatric nursing care.
• Adaptable to a high-stress environment and assess potential for patient escalation.
• Effective communication skills, including oral and written, with a sensitivity to serving a culturally diverse and special needs population.
• Self-confidence and ability to think conceptually in leading and directing others.
• Successfully completes CPR certification and an Oceans-approved behavioral health de-escalation program.
