About the Role

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for managing patients admitted or being seen for medical conditions or surgical procedures. The RN performs the primary function of a professional nurse leader in assessing, planning, guiding, and evaluating nursing care provided to patients, ensuring safe and competent care in accordance with facility policies, standards, and philosophy. The role involves providing professional leadership and support to the healthcare team, with a foundation in Patient Centered Care. The RN oversees and guides nursing employees under their supervision and interacts with hospital staff and ancillary departments to address patient care, concerns, and conflicts.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, guide, and evaluate nursing care for patients in accordance with facility policies and standards.
• Provide safe and competent nursing care based on Patient Centered Care principles.
• Oversee and guide nursing employees under your supervision.
• Interact with hospital staff and ancillary departments to address patient care concerns and resolve conflicts.
• Perform assessments related to specific conditions, therapies, and interventions.
• Demonstrate Service Excellence standards at all times.
• Work weekends, holidays, evenings, nights, and/or on-call/call-back status as necessary.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of Texas, or part of a compact state license, or a valid temporary RN license for the State of Texas while awaiting permanent licensure.
• Associate Degree, Baccalaureate Degree, or Diploma from a School of Nursing or University (effective January 6, 2012). New graduate RNs with a permit to practice in Texas may provide documentation of program completion.
• Must maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Must maintain current certifications according to unit-specific needs, in accordance with ARC or AHA Healthcare Provider’s Program:
  • BCLS/CPR (must be current upon hire and thereafter).
  • ACLS (if required in unit):
    • Nurses with one year or less of experience: obtain within 12 months of hire (or within 6 months if in Labor and Delivery or Post-Partum).
    • Nurses with over one year of experience: obtain within 6 months of hire.
    • If hired with current certification, must keep it current at all times.
• Demonstrate commitment and adherence to the facility’s Compliance Program and Code of Conduct.

Qualifications

• Prefer one year of full-time or three years of part-time experience in an acute care setting.
• BSN preferred.
