About the Role

Provides leadership in the coordination and delivery of quality compassionate patient care. Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide, delegate, supervise, and document care and teaching of patients and family. Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to the health care team. Participates in finding solutions for variances from patient goals and ensures implementation of solutions. Acts as a patient advocate while utilizing the nursing process to plan, deliver, and evaluate goal-focused, individualized, safe, age-specific care for all patients including those with complex pathophysiological needs and/or psychosocial needs.

Unit Description

All Float Pool staff are assigned to either a med/surg, stepdown, observation, or ICU unit. The float pool allows for flexible self-scheduling. RNs with specific skill sets can be assigned to Critical Care; otherwise, assignments may include any of the General Patient Units (GPUs). This role is ideal for individuals who prefer variety and do not want a repetitive routine of reporting to the same department every shift.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of RN experience
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to formulate effective nursing care plans
  • Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and hospital personnel

Qualifications

  • BSN preferred
  • Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing
