About the role
The RN First Assistant (RNFA) collaborates with surgeons in the operating room to provide direct patient care during surgical procedures.
Responsibilities
- Perform intraoperative assistance, including preoperative assessments and communicating patient outcomes.
- Contribute to team efficiency by ensuring safety, effectiveness, and quality in patient care.
- Monitor patient responses, adjust care plans, administer medications, and manage perioperative interventions.
- Participate in professional development, incorporate research into practice, and advocate for patient safety.
- Provide patient and family education and exhibit leadership within the perioperative setting.
Key Duties
- Assist during surgeries.
- Plan and evaluate patient care.
- Ensure adherence to standards.
- Contribute to continual improvement in perioperative services.
Qualifications & Skills
- RN license with 2–5 years of experience.
- Preferred: BSN degree, CNOR, Certified First Assistant certifications.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team and prioritize patient safety.
