Responsibilities

  • Interacts with co-workers, patients, and their designated care partners in a manner that respects and collaborates with them.
  • Integrates evidence-based practice, clinical expertise, and patients' preferences and cultural beliefs in delivering optimal healthcare.
  • Partners with patients and their designated care partners to identify learning needs and priorities, and educates them about their health and treatment plans.
  • Minimizes risks by following established nursing practices and protocols, and by assessing and managing potential hazards.
  • Uses information technology to communicate effectively, manage knowledge, and support ethical decision-making.
  • Maintains and monitors the quality and safety of patient care through data analysis and improvement methods.
  • Fosters open communication and teamwork within nursing and interdisciplinary teams, promoting quality patient care.
  • Recognizes and respects the unique needs and preferences of patients and their designated care partners, creating an inclusive environment.
  • Serves as a primary preceptor for staff members, actively participating in hospital and practice setting committees, and seeking opportunities for professional growth.
  • Acts as a mentor and coach to colleagues, providing feedback and integrating appropriate changes into practice.

Requirements

  • Specialized Diploma from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Knowledge of patient-and-family-centered care principles.
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Experience in assessing patients and implementing treatment plans.
  • Ability to educate patients and their designated care partners.
  • Knowledge of medication administration and prescription.
  • Discharge planning skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or completion of a BSN program within 3 years of hire, preferred.
  • One year of previous experience as an RN in an acute care setting, preferred.
