REGISTERED NURSE, Emergency Dept @ the NORTH VALLEYS FED, Full Time Nights **$10,000 SIGN ON BONUS**

Northern Nevada Health System is a regional multi-facility system offering quality care to residents of the greater Truckee Meadows. The system operates two acute care hospitals, Northern Nevada Medical Center and Sierra Medical Center, along with Northwest Specialty Hospital and freestanding emergency departments. NNHS also has a robust outpatient services division providing family medicine, urgent care, and specialty care focused on cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, general surgery, and wound care.

About the role

The ER at North Valleys, an extension of Northern Nevada Medical Center, operates 24/7 and serves patients of all ages, from pediatrics to seniors. The facility features multiple treatment rooms, including fast-track exam rooms for efficient triage of low-severity patients, as well as advanced imaging services such as ultrasound, CT, and X-ray, plus outpatient lab draws. The Freestanding Emergency Department (FED) treats a variety of emergency medical needs, including trauma conditions, lacerations, acute pain, and other life-threatening or emergent conditions.

This full-time ER Registered Nurse opportunity requires 36 hours per week on a flexible nightshift schedule and includes full benefits. The role involves providing professional nursing care within the Emergency Department, coordinating care planning with other disciplines, and delivering care that addresses psychosocial, physical, and general aspects of patient needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, evaluate outcomes, consult with other specialists as needed, and adjust nursing care processes to ensure optimal patient care.
• Perform head-to-toe assessments on all patients (pediatric, adolescent, geriatric, and general population) and conduct reassessments as per policy.
• Use the triage process to ensure timely and appropriate care, accurately assigning triage categories.
• Monitor hemodynamic status of patients and correctly interpret results.
• Adequately assess and reassess pain, utilizing appropriate pain management techniques and educating patients and families regarding pain management.
• Determine priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the system.
• Communicate with ED physicians regarding changes in patient status, symptomatology, and results of diagnostic studies.
• Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition or response to treatment.

Qualifications

• Current Nevada RN License.
• Two to three years of experience in the emergency department preferred, OR two to three years of critical care experience, OR extensive EMS background experience.
• Current BLS Certification.
• Current ACLS Certification (within 6 months of hire).
• Current PALS Certification (within 6 months of hire).
