Position Details: PRN role in the Emergency Department at Heber Valley Hospital. Licensed RN experience in an Emergency Department and/or high acuity setting preferred. One year of licensed RN experience required.

About the Role

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients. The staff RN utilizes the nursing process through technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice, and coordination of care with other health team members.

Responsibilities

  • Assess: Performs appropriate assessment of physical, social, and psychological status (including cognitive, communicative, and developmental skills). Seeks and evaluates information from interdisciplinary team members, patients, family, physicians, non-nursing disciplines, and support staff.
  • Plan: Uses assessment information and critical thinking to collaboratively develop an individualized plan of care. Actively involves patient, family, team, and physician in planning, including needed education. Prepares patients for further support needs post-care (e.g., teaching, referrals, follow-up).
  • Implement: Directs the interdisciplinary care team via delegation, coordination, and collaboration. Provides or delegates care consistent with the plan, guidelines, and professional licensure. Sets priorities and manages time, supplies, and resources effectively.
  • Evaluate: Evaluates patient response to interventions by reviewing goal achievement, clinical outcomes, and patient/family satisfaction. Revises the plan of care as needed and reassesses changes.
  • Professionalism: Promotes the nursing profession and participates in the development of others. Integrates legal and ethical standards into practice, complies with regulatory standards, and practices within the scope of licensure. Provides accurate and timely documentation and understands the legal implications of care delivery.

Requirements

  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice. Valid compact licenses must be transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of employment start.
  • RNs with less than 12 months of experience must obtain their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four years of hire.
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution (required as of 4/27/2025; employees hired or promoted prior to this date are held to prior minimum requirements).

Physical Requirements

  • Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, and identify equipment/supplies.
  • Frequent verbal communication with care providers, patients, and visitors, including hearing and understanding spoken information, alarms, and needs quickly, especially during emergencies.
  • Manual dexterity for complex and delicate equipment (e.g., frequent computer use, typing, medication preparation).
  • Ability to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients, bend to retrieve/lift/carry supplies and equipment (including heavy items).
  • Walking and assisting with transporting/ambulating patients, pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment (including heavy items), and navigating crowded/busy rooms.
  • May require standing in a stationary position for extended periods.
  • For roles requiring driving: Ability to drive a vehicle, including sitting, seeing/reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

Pay

The hourly range for this position is $35.22 - $53.29. Actual hourly rate is dependent upon experience.
