Professional caregiver responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care using the nursing process, technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice, and coordination with other health team members.

Responsibilities

  • Assess physical, social, and psychological status, including cognitive, communicative, and developmental skills. Gather and evaluate information from interdisciplinary team members, patients, families, physicians, and support staff.
  • Develop individualized care plans using assessment information and critical thinking. Involve patients, families, teams, and physicians in planning and education. Prepare patients for further support needs post-care (e.g., teaching, referrals, follow-up).
  • Direct the interdisciplinary care team through delegation, coordination, and collaboration. Provide or delegate care consistent with the plan, guidelines, and professional licensure. Set priorities and manage time, supplies, and resources effectively.
  • Evaluate patient responses to interventions by reviewing goal achievement, clinical outcomes, and patient/family satisfaction. Revise care plans as needed and reassess changes.
  • Promote the nursing profession and participate in the development of others. Integrate legal and ethical standards into practice, comply with regulatory standards, and practice within licensure scope. Provide accurate and timely documentation, understanding legal implications of care delivery.

Requirements

  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice. Valid compact licenses must be transferred within 60 days of employment start.
  • RNs with less than 12 months of experience must obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four years of hire.
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required for hires or promotions after 4/27/2025. Employees hired or promoted prior to this date are held to minimum requirements in place at that time.

Physical Requirements

  • Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, and identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent verbal communication with care providers, patients, and visitors, including hearing and understanding spoken information, alarms, and needs quickly and accurately, especially during emergencies.
  • Manual dexterity to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision, including frequent computer use and typing for documentation, accessing information, and medication preparation.
  • Lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients, bend to retrieve and carry supplies and equipment, including heavy items.
  • Walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients, obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment, including pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, often in crowded and busy rooms.
  • May stand in a stationary position for extended periods.
  • For roles requiring driving: Ability to drive a vehicle, including sitting, seeing, and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

Pay

$35.22 - $53.29 per hour, dependent upon experience.
