Registered Nurse - Emergency Department, Full-Time
About the role
Performs direct patient care activities for all age groups to include assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Monitors and coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient care and comfort. Functions within the scope of nursing preparation and consistent with the established guidelines of nursing practice, the goals of Mercy Health System, the Philosophy of the Sisters of Mercy, the respective State Nurse Practice Act, the Code of Professional and Business Ethics, and the Co-Worker Code of Conduct. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with Mercy’s mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care across all age groups, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Monitor and coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to enhance patient care and comfort.
- Adhere to nursing practice guidelines, organizational goals, and professional standards.
- Perform duties in alignment with Mercy’s mission, values, and service standards.
Requirements
- Graduated from an approved or accredited school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN).
- Must be eligible to take the board of nursing exam.
- Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider card or completion of a course within the probation period.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk most of the time on duty.
- Meet unit-specific physical demands, including significant bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance.
- May be required to work varying schedules, shifts, or days based on patient care needs.
- High-risk exposure to blood and body fluids.
- Physical demands include pushing, pulling, and gripping up to 50 lbs., pinching up to 15 lbs., and minimal kneeling, crouching, and crawling.

Schedule
Full-Time - 36 hours/week, 12-hour shifts (schedule to be determined).
Location
Mercy Hospital Southeast, Cape Girardeau, MO - Emergency Department.
