Registered Nurse - ED Surge Capacity/ Float Pool - F/T Nights

About the role

The Registered Nurse at Hackensack Meridian Health is a caregiver for a specific patient population, focusing on expanding knowledge and skills, providing effective direct care as part of the interdisciplinary team, directing and overseeing care provided by other caregivers, coordinating patient care/unit activities, and ensuring safe and excellent delivery of individualized patient care.

Responsibilities

• Delivers nursing practices according to the most up-to-date evidence-based research, nursing policies, and standards of care.
• Performs comprehensive data collection and assessment focusing on physiologic, psychological, and cognitive status.
• Develops and coordinates a plan of care that includes age and disease-specific patient-centered goals and outcomes.
• Communicates and coordinates care with patients, families, nursing colleagues, and other members of the health care team.
• Administers medications using bar-scanning and documentation technologies to ensure safe medication delivery.
• Coordinates multi-disciplinary discharges to ensure safe transitions and continuity of care.
• Evaluates patient progress towards outcomes and initiates interventions based on patient condition changes.
• Advises on ethical issues in the practice setting and brings them to the attention of team members.
• Lifts a minimum of 35 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 10 lbs., and stands for a minimum of 6 hours per day.

Qualifications

• Current and valid New Jersey Nursing license.
• American Heart Association (AHA) BLS/CPR certification.
• Minimum 1 year of acute care RN experience (strongly desired).
• National certification preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred or willing to acquire within 3 years of hire.
