Registered Nurse - CV ICU

Role Overview

This position is for a registered nurse in a specialized Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU), focusing on post-open-heart, thoracotomy, and vascular patient care. The nurse practices independently, providing both routine and complex care, and collaborates closely with cardiovascular surgeons.

Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process for assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation of patients.
• Address patients' psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs in accordance with practice standards.
• Administer medications and treatments per protocols, monitor side effects, and assess treatment effectiveness.
• Document patient histories, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers on care plans and resources.
• Delegate tasks appropriately to care team members to ensure optimal patient management.

Qualifications & Skills

• Preferred Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a related nursing specialty preferred; new graduates considered.
• Current RN license and BLS certification required; ACLS certification required within specified grace periods.
• Completion of organizational onboarding, competency validations, and ongoing annual training.

Schedule

• Night shifts (7PM - 7AM) in a highly specialized ICU environment, emphasizing advanced critical care skills and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
