Job Summary
The Registered Nurse assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and unit policies/procedures. The purpose is to monitor and evaluate patient functional status.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Utilize the nursing process to care for patients.
- Assess, organize, and complete patient care with consideration for patient age, cultural, and psychosocial factors.
- Document steps of the nursing process using proper medical terminology.
- Address problems and progress toward goals.
- Facilitate patient discharge through timely, appropriate referrals and utilization of patient education resources, suitable to patient age and cultural/psychosocial factors.
- Collaborate with other disciplines as appropriate.
- Support unit/hospital goals through performance improvement and educational activities as evidenced by attending in-services, meeting unit education standards, and completing variance reports.
Decision Making
Make independent judgments from many diversified alternatives, subject to general review in final stages only.
Working Relationship
- Coordinate activities of others (does not supervise).
- Lead others in the same work performed (does not supervise).
- Have input on performance evaluations but do not prepare or give them.
- Work directly with patients and/or customers.
- Interact with internal customers via telephone or face-to-face interaction.
- Interact with external customers via telephone or face-to-face interaction.
- Work with other healthcare professionals and staff.
- Frequently interact with individuals at Director level or above.

Education
- Minimum Education: Completion of the basic professional curricula of a school of nursing as approved and verified by a state board of nursing, holding or entitled to hold a diploma or degree therefrom.
- Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification: Valid multi-state or State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse License.
