Registered Nurse - Critical Care Float

About the Role

Join our team of dedicated Registered Nurses supporting the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, TX. This is a full-time contract position (non-personal services; nurses are not VA employees) with consistent 12-hour shifts (36 hours/week), including some weekends and holidays. Overtime is available with approval. Float between critical care, stepdown, med/surg, ER, and specialty units.

What You'll Do

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a variety of acute and specialty units
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for Veterans with diverse needs
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and communicate changes in patient condition
• Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record
• Float to areas of highest need
• Uphold VA core values: Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect, and Excellence (ICARE)

What We're Looking For

• Active, unrestricted RN license (any U.S. state or territory)
• 1+ year of recent, independent critical care experience
• Current BLS & ACLS certifications
• Proficiency in English (spoken and written)
• Ability to float between units as needed
• Commitment to professionalism, teamwork, and Veteran-centered care

Pay & Benefits

• Total Hourly Rate Potential: $61.45/hour (includes $56.36/hour base pay + $5.09/hour H&W stipend)
• If you do not require company health insurance, the $5.09/hour stipend is paid directly to you as cash wages (up to 40 hours per week)
