About the role

The Critical Care Unit (CCU) at North Alabama Hospital is a 22-bed unit that operates within a trauma III hospital setting. This unit provides specialized care to critically ill patients and embodies a culture of teamwork and productive communication.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes specialized plan-of-care intervention and serves as a patient-care innovator.
  • Serves as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
  • Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care treatment.
  • Documents patient care given and monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Aids patients with activities of daily living such as personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborates with other disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of the patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

Requirements

  • Current state RN license.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • ACLS/PALS certification within six months of hire.
  • One year of experience preferred.
