About the Role
The Ambulatory and Outpatient Registered Nurse (RN) is a member of Advocate Health Nursing Professional Governance community, providing high-quality, patient-centered care in an ambulatory care setting. The RN collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, advocates for patient needs, and upholds professional practice standards to promote optimal health outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
- Utilize evidence-based practice, clinical decision-making, compassion, and effective communication to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum.
- Lead efforts to ensure patient safety and satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing.
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association.
Skills
- Clinical expertise in ambulatory care settings.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to advocate for patient needs and uphold professional practice standards.
About the Location
Our expert team of endocrinology physicians in Port Washington, WI, diagnoses and treats a range of hormone-related conditions, including diabetes, obesity, thyroid, adrenal, pituitary, calcium, osteoporosis, and bone disorders. We use advanced technology and individualized care plans, including nutrition and education services, to meet unique patient needs. Some locations also provide care for reproductive medicine, endocrine disorders in pregnancy, and transgender hormone therapy.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.
- Lift and support up to 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.
- Push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with assistance.
- Functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with fine hand manipulation skills for procedures like IV insertion.
- Maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines.
- Perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation.
- Exposure to chemical and hazardous waste, blood and body fluids, and communicable diseases, requiring protective clothing and equipment.
- Quick response to changes in patient and/or unit conditions.
Physical Abilities Testing may be required. Additional department-specific physical requirements may be identified by the nurse leader.
