About the Role
This position provides direct nursing care to severely emotionally disabled adolescents on a residential treatment unit. It includes clinical and administrative supervision of RNs, LPNs, and non-licensed staff, and supports family-driven, youth-guided client treatment.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to severely emotionally disabled adolescents in a residential treatment setting.
- Supervise RNs, LPNs, and non-licensed staff both clinically and administratively.
- Support treatment approaches that are family-driven and youth-guided.
Requirements
- Current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing or a current multi-state license in party states where the candidate has declared primary residence.
- Two years of experience as a Registered Nurse, with at least one year in the Medical option.
- At least two years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a psychiatric facility (selective qualification).
- Valid motor vehicle operator’s license if assigned duties requiring operation of an automobile.
- Ability to provide a phone number for call-in purposes.
- Subject to substance abuse testing per Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09.
- May be required to successfully complete and maintain cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification.
Qualifications
Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Nursing under licensing requirements for Registered Nurses.
Experience Substitutions:
- A Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related field from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of general experience.
- A Master’s degree in nursing or a health-related field from an accredited college or university may substitute for the required experience.
- U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Nursing classifications or Nursing and Hospital Administration specialty codes may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with children and adolescents.
- Experience working in a mental health psychiatric environment.
