Registered Nurse Charge Med

Location: MDH, Deer's Head Hospital Center, Salisbury, MD

About the Role

This position is the lead level of work responsible for nursing care in a unit on an assigned shift(s). The role involves providing nursing care in a medical setting, assigning, reviewing, and approving the work of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and non-licensed nursing or support staff. The position also includes training staff assigned to the work area for a shift.

Requirements

• Current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing or a current multi-state license in party states where the candidate has declared primary residence.
• Two years of experience as a Registered Nurse, one year of which must have been in the Medical option.
• Possession of a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland if assigned duties requiring the operation of an automobile.
• Successful completion of cardiopulmonary resuscitation training and maintenance of current certification, if required.
• Availability for call-in and provision of a contact phone number.
• Subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09.

Qualifications

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Nursing under the licensing requirements for Registered Nurses.

• Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related field from an accredited college or university for one year of general experience.
• Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master’s degree in nursing or a health-related field from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
• Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Nursing classifications or Nursing and Hospital Administration specialty codes in the Nursing field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
