Job Description and Duties

Effective July 1, 2025, in accordance with the applicable Memorandum of Understanding, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented in response to the status of the State budget. PLP 2025 requires each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit 17, and related Excluded, Exempt and Statutory Exempt employees, will have their base salary reduced by 3 percent and will receive 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes. Part-time employees are subject to the same conditions as full-time employees, on a prorated basis equivalent to their time-base. Permanent intermittent employees are subject to the same condition as full-time employees, based on the number of hours worked in the pay period.

This is a limited term position which may be extended or become permanent. Under the supervision of the Supervising Registered Nurse II/III, Correctional Facility (CF), the Registered Nurse (RN), CF organizes and provides necessary nursing care in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, regulations, and program requirements in a variety of correctional health care settings.

  • Ensures the delivery of appropriate and timely health care to patients.
  • Collaborates with the health care team to ensure continuity of care.
  • Addresses the ongoing health care needs of patients.
  • Promotes the timely, efficient, and appropriate use of health care resources.

About the Role

The Registered Nurse (RN), CF in collaboration with the health care team ensures the delivery of appropriate and timely health care to patients and coordinates interdisciplinary communication to promote continuity of care. The RN, CF is responsible for addressing the ongoing health care needs of patients and for promoting the timely, efficient, and appropriate use of health care resources.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Current California Registered Nurse License.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Experience in correctional healthcare setting preferred.

Pay

The starting salary range for this position is $64,800 to $82,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience. Salary does not reflect the recent changes due to the implementation of PLP 2025.

Schedule

The schedule for this position is typically Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend shifts as needed. Shifts may vary based on departmental needs.
