The Direct Patient Care Registered Nurse- DPC RN is a licensed professional responsible for delivering patient-family centered care in a culturally competent manner. They utilize and promote evidence-based practice standards of quality, safety, and service.
Responsibilities
- Assess patients and develop care plans based on clinical needs
- Provide technical nursing skills and interventions
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Critically think and solve problems related to patient care
- Interact with patients and families in a compassionate and professional manner
- Plan and evaluate care to ensure patient outcomes meet or exceed standards
- Adapt to changing patient conditions and environments
- Exercise professional accountability and leadership in patient care
- Support the organization’s mission and values through service
Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification
- ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification
- Basic Life Support certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification
- Associate’s degree in Nursing or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
- One year acute Cardiac Step Down experience
- BLS and ACLS certifications
- Completion of a preceptor class within twelve months of being deemed competent by department leadership for independent practice
- Additional certifications may be required based on department standards
Qualifications
- Associates degree in Nursing or Bachelors degree in Nursing
- RNs hired prior to certain dates are not required to have a BSN to continue in their non-leadership role as an RN
- RNs hired after certain dates with an Associate’s degree must complete a BSN degree within three years of their date of hire
