About the role

The Direct Patient Care Registered Nurse- DPC RN is a licensed professional responsible for delivering patient-family centered care in a culturally competent manner. They utilize and promote evidence-based practice standards of quality, safety, and service.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients and develop care plans based on clinical needs
  • Provide technical nursing skills and interventions
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Critically think and solve problems related to patient care
  • Interact with patients and families in a compassionate and professional manner
  • Plan and evaluate care to ensure patient outcomes meet or exceed standards
  • Adapt to changing patient conditions and environments
  • Exercise professional accountability and leadership in patient care
  • Support the organization’s mission and values through service

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse license
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification
  • ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification
  • Basic Life Support certification
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification
  • Associate’s degree in Nursing or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
  • One year acute Cardiac Step Down experience
  • BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Completion of a preceptor class within twelve months of being deemed competent by department leadership for independent practice
  • Additional certifications may be required based on department standards

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Nursing or Bachelors degree in Nursing
  • RNs hired prior to certain dates are not required to have a BSN to continue in their non-leadership role as an RN
  • RNs hired after certain dates with an Associate’s degree must complete a BSN degree within three years of their date of hire
