About the Role

As a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Medical Surgical and Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, you will deliver compassionate, high-quality care that impacts patients' well-being and recovery. This unit houses critical care patients requiring ICU-level care, with 24 large private rooms designed for increased monitoring and healing. Each room is equipped with full monitoring capabilities and space for pumps and ventilators. The ICU is staffed according to national standards of care, with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2.

You will leverage your expertise to provide individualized, comprehensive care, including critical assessments, skilled procedures, and meticulous implementation of patient care plans. Collaboration within an interdisciplinary team is essential to achieving optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to departmental and hospital policies and procedures, including safety, risk management, and regulatory standards.
  • Stay abreast of trends, developments, and regulatory requirements impacting the scope of responsibility.
  • Administer, oversee, and document medication administration (e.g., topically, orally, intramuscularly, subcutaneously, and intravenously) as ordered by healthcare practitioners and in accordance with hospital policy.
  • Assess patients to identify physical, psychosocial, cultural, behavioral/emotional, developmental, and spiritual needs.
  • Gather relevant data for patient care, implement appropriate interventions, and evaluate outcomes.
  • Plan care based on initial and ongoing assessments, providing holistic, comprehensive, and professional nursing care within the scope of practice.
  • Prepare patients for discharge and coordinate post-discharge needs.
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and competence in communication and care provision.
  • Apply knowledge and skills specific to the patient populations served by the department.
  • Engage in professional growth opportunities and demonstrate self-accountability for meeting mandatory requirements and deadlines.
  • Document care delivered and patient status using the nursing process in accordance with FHS standards, including changes in condition, responses to interventions, and reassessments.
  • Receive, verify, and ensure the appropriateness, accuracy, timeliness, and execution of physician orders.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing (required upon hire).
  • One of the following experience pathways:
    • 1-2 years of med/surg experience and successful completion of a critical care residency program.
    • New graduate with completion of a senior practicum in a specialty area (e.g., critical care, ED, PACU) and successful completion of a critical care residency program.
  • Active Washington State Registered Nurse license (required upon hire).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - CPR certification (required upon hire).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (required within 6 months of hire).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • One year of related work experience in an acute care setting.
  • Previous PCU/ICU experience.
  • Critical RN certification in Adult, Neonatal, Pediatric, or Acute care.
  • Certified Neuroscience RN (CNRN).

$48.36 - $85.71 per hour.
