About the role

Full-time and part-time roles are available. A sign-on bonus of $2,000–$3,000 is offered for full-time positions.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for visits with providers by performing and recording vital signs including blood pressure, temperatures, pulse, weight, and other procedures as needed.
  • Collect, record, and maintain patient information such as medical history, reports, and examination results.
  • Review patients’ medical records for completeness and update prior to patients’ visits.
  • Assist in routine medical examinations by preparing the patient, equipment, and supplies, and assist the provider as needed.
  • Prepare routine diagnostic request forms.
  • Occasional lifting of patients with assistance, reaching, handling, and fingering of instruments, and caring for patient needs.
  • Book patients for tests and appointments with outside facilities and/or specialists.
  • Provide guidance to non-clinical staff regarding clinical issues (e.g., phone triage).
  • Prescribe or administer treatment, medication, vaccination, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness for patients, including children and infants.
  • Refer patients to medical specialists or other practitioners when necessary.
  • Understand and follow the organization’s Mission Statement, Organizational Policies, and Structure.
  • Perform other job-related duties as required or assigned.
  • Supervise and support medical assistants.
  • Ensure meaningful use and Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) requirements, including staff training.
  • Lead Infectious Control training.
  • Support the Medical Director in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) monthly meetings.
  • Produce CQI monthly reports on quality measures to present to the board.
  • Support the Quality Assurance Director with review of patient charts and reports.
  • Assist with the annual Uniform Data System (UDS) report and ensure all quality measures are followed.
  • Maintain logs: refrigerated temperature logs, Vaccines for Children (VFC) orders and logs, consent forms.

Requirements

  • Current NYS Registered Nurse license.
  • Current Infection Control Certificate.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • Minimum 2 years of similar work, internship, or volunteer experience.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • Proficiency with computer technology.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all populations served.

Pay

Yearly salary range: $84,000–$90,000.
