Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Adheres to organizational policies and professional guidelines.
  • Collaborates with other departments for patient-centered care.
  • Demonstrates effective communication, conflict resolution, team building, and leadership skills.
  • Complies with Kindness First Service Standards.
  • Performs all aspects of patient care to optimize safety and reduce medical errors.
  • Adequately assesses and reassesses patients, formulates and revises individualized plans of care, and evaluates their effectiveness.
  • Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques, including non-pharmacological methods, and educates patients and families on pain management.
  • Coordinates and supervises patient care as necessary, formulates a teaching plan based on identified learning needs, and evaluates its effectiveness.
  • Communicates effectively with all health care team members and consults other departments as needed.
  • Assists physicians with procedures and performs services within scope of practice.
  • Reports significant events related to patient care promptly.
  • Treats patients and families with respect and dignity, identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs, and functions as a liaison between patients/families, physicians, other healthcare providers, and administration.
  • Maintains a good working relationship within the department and with other departments, identifies and addresses psychosocial needs of patients and families, and collaborates with social service/discharge planners for post-discharge needs.
  • Functions well under stressful situations and demonstrates flexibility, organization, and professionalism.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current unrestricted Wyoming Registered Nurse Licensure.
  • BLS certification, required.
  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing, preferred.
  • ACLS certification, required within 1 year of position start.
  • PALS certification, required within 1 year of position start.
  • 2 years of experience in acute care surgery, preferred.
