Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Adheres to organizational policies and professional guidelines.
- Collaborates with other departments for patient-centered care.
- Demonstrates effective communication, conflict resolution, team building, and leadership skills.
- Complies with Kindness First Service Standards.
- Performs all aspects of patient care to optimize safety and reduce medical errors.
- Adequately assesses and reassesses patients, formulates and revises individualized plans of care, and evaluates their effectiveness.
- Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques, including non-pharmacological methods, and educates patients and families on pain management.
- Coordinates and supervises patient care as necessary, formulates a teaching plan based on identified learning needs, and evaluates its effectiveness.
- Communicates effectively with all health care team members and consults other departments as needed.
- Assists physicians with procedures and performs services within scope of practice.
- Reports significant events related to patient care promptly.
- Treats patients and families with respect and dignity, identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs, and functions as a liaison between patients/families, physicians, other healthcare providers, and administration.
- Maintains a good working relationship within the department and with other departments, identifies and addresses psychosocial needs of patients and families, and collaborates with social service/discharge planners for post-discharge needs.
- Functions well under stressful situations and demonstrates flexibility, organization, and professionalism.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current unrestricted Wyoming Registered Nurse Licensure.
- BLS certification, required.
- Baccalaureate degree in nursing, preferred.
- ACLS certification, required within 1 year of position start.
- PALS certification, required within 1 year of position start.
- 2 years of experience in acute care surgery, preferred.
