Position Overview The Nurse at Renew Recovery Center is an essential part of the multidisciplinary team, providing direct patient care and ensuring a safe, structured, and supportive clinical environment. Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, the Nurse supports recovery-based services and guides BHT’s to promote continuity of care and therapeutic consistency throughout the facility. Required Qualifications Current RN or LVN license issued by the State of CaliforniaAt least 3 years of nursing experience, with a minimum of 2 years in substance use disorder or behavioral health settings preferredActive CPR (BLS) and First Aid certificationCompletion of required in-service trainings and annual competency assessmentsWorking knowledge of detox protocols, dual diagnosis, and withdrawal management preferred Clinical Responsibilities Provide safe and effective patient care in accordance with facility policies and clinical protocolsConduct comprehensive nursing assessments, recognizing both medical and behavioral symptomsMonitor and respond to detox symptoms and signs of substance intoxicationAdminister prescribed medications using two patient identifiers; document and observe effects accuratelyDevelop and contribute to individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the treatment teamCommunicate effectively with patients, families, and team members to support care coordinationFacilitate psychoeducational groups and engage in patient-centered activities as assignedAccurately take and transcribe physician orders; verify and clarify as neededDeliver discharge planning support and patient education with appropriate documentationMaintain compliance with infection control protocols, HIPAA guidelines, and facility confidentiality standardsEnsure accurate, legible, and timely documentation of nursing interventions and outcomesIdentify and report changes in patient condition to appropriate personnelUtilize critical thinking and clinical judgment in crisis or emergency situationsDemonstrate competency in performing required nursing procedures with or without supervisionEnsure contraband control and contribute to the overall safety of the unitProvide accurate, thorough hand-off reports to the next shift or clinical leadershipAssist with the admissions process, including patient orientation and initial assessmentsRecognize and report suspected co-occurring mental health concerns ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES Manage the clinical unit when designated as the nurse-in-chargeProvide leadership and guidance to BHT’s, ensuring consistency with treatment plansMake patient care assignments based on staff competencies and patient acuityServe as a resource and mentor for less experienced staffIdentify opportunities for improved efficiency and cost-effective careMaintain awareness of medical equipment and supplies, requesting service or replacements when neededParticipate in ongoing quality improvement initiatives and data collectionDemonstrate knowledge of facility-specific policies, regulatory compliance, and safety protocolsRespond to emergencies and participate in disaster response proceduresContribute to interdisciplinary meetings and committees, providing feedback and updates as appropriate Other Duties Attend all mandatory trainings, safety briefings, and clinical in-servicesUphold facility expectations for dress code, conduct, professionalism, and timelinessRespect the confidentiality of patient records, staff communication, and operational mattersEngage in personal and professional growth through CEUs, conferences, or educational opportunitiesParticipate in unit-specific or organization-wide initiatives as requested by the Director of NursingPerform other clinical or administrative tasks as assigned WORKING ENVIRONMENT Active involvement with patients in both direct and supportive care rolesMust be able to walk, stand, bend, and lift up to 30 pounds with appropriate body mechanicsExposure to healthcare environments including medications, sharps, infectious waste, and other hazardsComfortable working in emotionally charged situations and responding to client crisesMust be flexible and able to manage multiple priorities or unexpected clinical needs Attendance Requirements Maintains consistent attendance and punctuality aligned with department policiesAvoids excessive or patterned absences, especially those around weekends and scheduled time offProvides timely notice of absences and follows required call-out proceduresAdheres to scheduled break and meal timesDemonstrates attendance that supports uninterrupted patient care and departmental effectiveness Benefits Competitive hourly pay with shift differentialsPaid training and professional development opportunitiesOpportunities for advancement in behavioral healthSupportive, mission-driven work environment Apply Now
