Summary
The Registered Nurse will deliver care to patients using the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. Responsibilities include interacting effectively with patients, significant others, and other healthcare team members.Essential Functions
- Assigns tasks to nursing personnel and supervises their performance.
- Develops and coordinates a plan of care for each resident, collaborating with allied health professionals.
- Administers prescribed medications and provides treatments and nursing care as needed.
- Notifies physicians, families, and staff about resident conditions and needs.
- Aids LPNs and CNAs in acquiring knowledge through direct instruction and discussions.
- Documents relevant information accurately in the resident’s medical record.
- Carries out restorative nursing activities and instructs staff, residents, and families as necessary.
- Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care to meet immediate and long-range needs.
- Monitors resident care quality and ensures orders are carried out.
- Alerts supervisor if staffing issues arise.
- Pursues further knowledge and professional growth in long-term care and geriatric nursing.
- Observes and reports potential or existing dangers to staff and supervisors.
- Maintains compliance with departmental policies, state and federal regulations, and fire/disaster plans.
- Collaborates with other departments to ensure comprehensive care for residents.
- Demonstrates concern for and preserves the dignity of all individuals.
- Incorporates Green House concepts into care provided and interactions.
- Reports for duty promptly and reviews previous shift’s resident information.
