About the role

Registered nurses perform responsibilities ranging from entry level to journey level. Employees’ responsibilities include providing professional nursing care and treatment to inmates by conducting needs assessments, developing, implementing, evaluating treatment plans, and providing patient care. Nursing care to inmates as part of the multidisciplinary team in accordance with the facilities mission, Virginia Department of Corrections Standards, physician and patient expectations.

Pay

$56.40/hr

What You Will Do In This Role

• Applies knowledge of principles and practices of professional registered nursing care acquired through formal education and training.
• Contacts are made with patients, medical support staff, supervisory nurses, and physicians in the provision of professional nursing care.
• Works with discretion and judgment in patient assessment and case management.
• Develops total patient assessment, requiring considerable judgment and decision-making.
• Provides leadership to LPNs and other medical direct service support staff.

Qualifications You May Need

• A graduate from an accredited school of Nursing: Associate's Degree in Nursing or higher is required.
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Virginia, and/or hold an active Compact/Multi State RN license.
• A current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider is required.
• Corrections experience preferred.
