About the Role

The Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to ensure quality nursing care and to maximize the quality of life for patients. The RN is an integral member of the clinical support team, collaborating with multidisciplinary members to meet clinical needs. The RN supports culture change initiatives, serves as a role model and mentor, and demonstrates a commitment to the philosophy and mission of Hebrew SeniorLife, recognizing patient dignity and choice in all aspects of daily life.

Responsibilities

• Ensures care is within the scope of safe professional nursing practice and HSL core competencies
• Collaborates with the clinical support team (MD, NP, nurses, social workers, therapists, dieticians) to meet patient needs and monitor outcomes
• Adheres to best practice recommendations and implements evidence-based interventions
• Practices in a primary nursing model and maintains accountability for assigned patients
• Participates in care planning and supports patient autonomy and choice
• Ensures adherence to the plan of care and revises as needed for individualized patient needs
• Documents appropriately in the electronic medical record
• Identifies and seeks resources to ensure safe and effective care
• Delegates and supervises care delivered by licensed practical nurses and nursing assistants
• Assumes accountability for personal learning needs and professional development
• Demonstrates critical thinking in problem resolution
• Role models professional behavior
• Actively participates in shared governance and committees

• Serves as a resource and support to elder assistants

• May be assigned charge nurse responsibilities, including:
  • Giving shift reports to oncoming staff
  • Providing clinical/supervisory oversight during the shift
  • Delegating assignments to the team
  • Initiating necessary reports (DPH, incident reports, concern resolutions)
  • Ensuring completion of admissions or discharges during the shift
  • Attending rounds (wound, physician, etc.)
  • Overseeing LPN assessments and co-signing nursing assessments and initial care plans
  • Developing patient care assignments and contributing to performance evaluations

Requirements

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing; BSN preferred
• Current Massachusetts RN license in good standing
• Previous experience preferred
• Understanding of and support for the model of care at HRC
• Professional, proactive, collaborative, and results-oriented
• Optimistic and positive demeanor with excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong intuition, adaptability, and sound judgment
• Superb organizational and analytical skills
• Creative, proactive, and disciplined in managing workload and priorities

• Motivated to learn and flexible to change
• Computer literacy required
• Excellent English language skills, both written and verbal

Pay

$32.13 - $48.20 per hour
