Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to residents and supervise day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants in accordance with federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.
- Direct the day-to-day functions of nursing assistants.
- Plan and coordinate shift services, programs, and activities with assigned nursing staff and support personnel.
- Make written and oral reports/recommendations concerning shift activities.
- Admit, transfer, and discharge residents as required.
- Provide leadership to nursing personnel assigned to your unit/shift.
- Complete and file required recordkeeping forms/charts upon resident admission, transfer, and/or discharge.
- Receive and transcribe telephone orders from physicians and record on the Physician’s Order Form.
- Chart nurse’s notes in an informative and descriptive manner reflecting care provided and resident’s response.
- Complete accident/incident reports and submit to Director as required.
- Perform routine charting duties in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Prepare and administer medications as ordered by the physician.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with inter-departmental personnel and other facility departments.
- Create and maintain a warm, calm, and positive environment for residents and staff.
- Receive and give nursing reports at the start and end of shift.
- Make rounds with physicians as necessary.
- Administer professional services such as catheterization, tube feedings, suction, wound care, colostomy care, IV therapy, and range of motion exercises.
- Monitor assigned personnel to ensure compliance with safety regulations for equipment and supplies.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident care information, including protected health information.
- Report unauthorized disclosure of resident information.
- Ensure nursing care is provided in privacy and staff knock before entering resident rooms.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse with current unencumbered state licensure.
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts.
