About the role

The Registered Nurse monitors patients, supports providers, and documents procedures under general direction.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures continual delivery of high-quality nursing care
  • Adopts and implements innovative nursing practices to improve the facility
  • Maintains a healthy, collaborative team environment
  • Mentors and trains other surgical staff as needed
  • Promotes positive customer relations within the ASC
  • Maintains working knowledge of all equipment and procedures
  • Oversees safety and infection control surveillance and delegated tasks to ensure effective results
  • Maintains documentation of patient care services, including auditing patient and department records
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge through educational workshops, publications, and professional networks
  • Fosters cooperative relationships among healthcare teams through communication and problem-solving
  • Consults and coordinates with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans
  • Monitors all aspects of patient care and prepares rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies
  • Provides compassionate, professional, and courteous care to patients, families, physicians, and colleagues
  • Follows safety and infection control procedures and adheres to federal, state, and nursing regulations
  • Initiates a time-out before procedures to verify patient identity, procedure, site, and side
  • Documents time-out information in the Procedure Safety Checklist
  • Identifies and intervenes in emergency situations
  • Administers and understands regulatory policies (e.g., Joint Commission, CDC, State)
  • Deploys, monitors, and integrates operational processes within the facility’s quality programs
  • Maintains patient, physician, and employee privacy and confidentiality per HIPAA and company standards
  • Assists with supply ordering and provides clinical support for procedures
  • Maintains accurate, detailed reports and records of patient symptoms and conditions
  • Ensures history and physicals are complete on each patient prior to procedures
  • Instructs individuals and families on health education, disease prevention, and health improvement programs
  • Oversees and ensures daily, quarterly, and annual binders/logs are up to date
  • Informs physicians of patient conditions before, during, and after procedures
  • Acts as a liaison between physicians, patients, and their families
  • Maintains the role of patient advocate
  • Provides and explains discharge instructions to patients
  • Ensures physicians clear patients for discharge
  • Assists in stocking and inventory of the clinical area
  • Ensures all applicable staff and guests wear radiation badges
  • Maintains and stores radiation safety equipment
  • Conducts annual apron and thyroid shield inspections
  • Conducts safety drills as required
  • Conducts daily inventory and ensures policies are followed for controlled substances
  • Ensures operation of medical and administrative equipment, including troubleshooting and maintenance
  • Orders and requests supplies as needed
  • Checks and responds to work email regularly throughout the day
  • Participates in and completes all required trainings and in-services
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice or a compact-eligible state
  • Proof of licensure and/or compact eligibility must be submitted
  • Current ACLS and BLS certification
  • Knowledge of Internet and Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including exceptional customer service
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with doctors, clinical staff, and the public
  • Ability to work individually and within a team
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Patience and understanding during stressful conditions related to patient health and emergent situations
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Working knowledge of all equipment and procedures
  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills
  • Problem-solving and reasoning abilities
  • Ability to meet predefined quality standards
  • Professional attitude and appearance at all times
  • Working knowledge of the healthcare field, medical specialty, and medical terminology
  • Proof of annual influenza vaccination
  • Completion of two-step PPD (NE staff) or annual PPD (SE staff)
  • Completion of all regulatory competencies prior to starting work
  • Strong desire to provide excellent customer service and comply with organizational rules and regulations

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of experience as a Registered Nurse
  • One year of prior experience working in a Pain Management practice
  • One year of prior experience working with an Electronic Medical Record (EMR)

Driving/Travel

The employee must have reliable transportation. Travel for this position will be required up to 80%. While the primary workplace may be closest to the employee’s home, work assignments could be in any of the company’s locations.

Pay

Pay Range: $42.00/Hr - $47.00/Hr
