About the role

Provides safe, accurate and efficient patient care, including patient assessment, review of labs and vital signs, medication safety, dose verification, and drug administration. Follows all Job Breakdown Instructions (JBIs) associated with the role. Provides triage care when necessary and communicates patient condition effectively to multidisciplinary team members.

Responsibilities

  • Safely and accurately administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biotherapy, supportive care, and non-oncologic agents to patients as ordered by providers, using Oncology Nurse’s Society (ONS) standards and guidelines.
  • Accurate and safe disposal of biohazardous waste, per OSHA and NIOSH guidelines.
  • Provide new and ongoing patient education, continual patient assessment, and support.
  • Thorough, accurate, and timely documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) of treatment rendered to patients, ensuring appropriate charges are captured.
  • Follow proper patient identification per JBI for all patient encounters.
  • Educate patients and caregivers about medications, side effects, and planned treatment course in a caring, professional manner.
  • Perform telephone triage, prioritizing incoming calls and messages from patients, family members, hospitals, nursing facilities, pharmacies, and physician offices, responding in an appropriate time frame.
  • Assist with inventory and restocking of medical supplies, recommend purchase of new items as needed, and place stock in storage areas in a timely manner.
  • Complete annual required safety and nursing trainings and attend all mandatory staff meetings.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient and employee information.
  • Assist in training new employees related to job duties according to JBIs.
  • Work at any Company location to help meet business needs on an as-needed basis, within reasonable expectations, and work overtime when given sufficient notice.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Comply with all federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to patient privacy, patient’s rights, personnel law, safety, labor, and employment law.
  • Adhere to Company and departmental policies and procedures, including IT policies and procedures and Disaster Plan.

Requirements

  • Unencumbered RN License in state of employment or multi-state license.
  • Current CPR and BLS certifications.
  • Valid Driver’s License and vehicle for travel to other clinic locations as needed.
  • Experience with hematology/oncology patients in a clinic or hospital setting.
  • Ability to assess patient needs and condition, with strong critical thinking skills and the ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Fluency in the English language with excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Communication Skills: Good command of the English language. Effective communication skills (oral, written, presentation), active listening, and providing balanced feedback. Second language is an asset but not required.
  • Customer Service & Organizational Awareness: Strong customer focus. Ability to build an engaging culture of quality, performance effectiveness, and operational excellence through best practices, collaboration, and partnerships.
  • Self-Management: Effectively manages own time, conflicting priorities, stress, and professional development. Self-motivated and self-starter with the ability to work independently with limited supervision. Ability to work remotely effectively as required and in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required.

Pay

$24.83 - $46.12 per hour

Schedule

Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Occasional overtime may be required, and weekend shifts based on location hours and operational needs. Travel: less than 25%.
