Registered Nurse Apprentice

Responsibilities

• Observes and reports symptoms and conditions of patients to the nurse clearly and accurately within appropriate time frame.
• Demonstrates good communication skills with patients, family members and co-workers.
• Aids in the admission of new patients and orienting them and their families to the environment.
• Utilizes work sheet.
• Provides accurate report at shift change.
• Promotes cost containment and appropriate resource utilization in the delivery of patient care.
• Assists in facilitating timely admission and discharge of patients.
• Staffs the discharge lounge and provides patient care as directed.
• Aids in maintaining accurate and current records and prepares reports and records for physicians/nurses as requested.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent and must be actively enrolled in RN school pursuing a degree in Nursing documented by transcript.
• RN Student with NT II (documentation of completion of Basic Nursing Skills/Fundamentals) plus Med-Surg rotation.
• Candidates must receive a minimum “meets standard” rating on the most recent annual or 90-day evaluation, must have received no written disciplinary corrective actions or no more than two verbal counseling or informal counseling sessions within the last 12 months.

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association is required within 30 days of hire. Recertification every two years is Required.

• Demonstrates skill in oral and written communication.
